2018 Dodge Journey vs 2018 Honda Pilot near Washington, DC

Both the Dodge Journey and the Honda Pilot make for excellent 2018 SUVs. It might seem difficult to choose between them, but this review is here to help by comparing the engine capability and offerings, as well as the choices for trim levels, safety features, and technology. In 2018, the Dodge Journey has three-rows of seats, a stronger engine, and is overall budget friendly. The 2018 Honda Pilot is unchanged for this year, but still offers the same capability as the 2017 model year with multiple safety features.

2018 Dodge Journey Power & Handling

With the Dodge Journey, you are given two options for an engine. The first engine is a 2.4-liter inline-4 with front-wheel drive with a four-speed automatic transmission. The second engine is a 3.6-liter V6 with six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Both make for excellent options with a smooth drive and easy transitions.

2018 Honda Pilot Power & Handling

There is only one engine available to the Honda Pilot. The engine you will find under the hood is a 3.5-liter V6 with either a six-speed automatic transmission or a nine-speed automatic transmission. This engine can also be found with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

2018 Dodge Journey Features & Design

Four trims are available to choose from with the Journey. The base trim comes fairly prepared with all the basics you could possibly need. As you move up in trim, you also move up in technology and kid entertainment. Many safety features and driving aids are also included. Some of the features you may find would be a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, keyless ignition and entry, heated seats, overhead storage, and even a premium sound system.

2018 Honda Pilot Features & Design

Five trims are available as options on the Pilot. With the base trim, you just get a few basics, until you move on to the next level. Each level adds in technology and safety. While Honda can be very safety conscious, it may have gone a bit overboard. Many of the safety features found in the Pilot can be overly sensitive and just become downright annoying. A few of the features you may find would be a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a rearview camera.

Conclusions

Now that you have a better knowledge of what both of these vehicles have to offer for trim levels, safety features, and driving capability, you should have a better idea of which vehicle is best for you. With the Honda not having any changes from the 2017 model, would it really be worth it to buy new? The Journey comes out on top for safety and choices, as well as with new features for 2018. If you have further questions, please feel free to give us a call or send us a message. If you are interested in taking some test drives, we would be more than happy to set that up for you as well.
