Engine (Power)
The 2017 Challenger starts you off with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that manages 305 horsepower with 268 pound-feet of torque. Past that is a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine that offers 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. An even bigger option is the 6.4-liter HEMI, and this one gets 485 horsepower with 475 pound-feet of torque. Last but certainly not least, the 6.2-liter Hellcat is another V8, but this one uses a supercharger to pump out as much as 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
True to its racing roots, the 2017 Dodge Challenger comes with a six-speed manual transmission as standard equipment on every trim. However, you can also switch it out for a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic that comes with paddle shifters for drivers who still want manual control. Performance and power are top-notch no matter which trim you choose, but you'll definitely get better equipment and engines when you opt for a more expensive trim. These include a sport-tuned suspension and Brembo brakes. On the other hand, only the V6 engine comes with an efficient 30 highway mpg.
Interior
With a Plus trim, the 2017 Challenger comes with plenty of interior features, and all models have a surprising amount of backseat space for a two-door coupe. With top-level trims, you can expect features like an Alpine nine-speaker sound system, a Harman Kardon system with 18 speakers, front seats with ventilation and heating, and Nappa leather and suede seats.
Safety Features
Speedy cars need good safety, and so the 2017 Dodge Challenger comes standard with hill start assist, electronic stability control, six air bags, and active head restraints.
